Affinitas

A collaborative site-responsive installation for the University Art Museum (rear exterior) at the University of California Santa Barbara. Digital drawing, plotted and cut vinyl, 8 feet x 32 feet (50 feet long overall with wall in between window banks). 2009-2010

The title, Affinitas, translates from the Latin as a union or bond between individuals, reflecting the response to the setting, a bustling pedestrian corridor where some stop to chat and others simply walk through. The theme of attraction and connection is articulated as an an energy field stretching between two hands, charged with drifters and their encounters. Collaborating artists: Laurel Beckman, Alejandro Casazi, Luke DePass, Melissa Ortiz, and Marcia Pinna.
